Woman mixed up her eye drops with nail glue and glued her eye shut
In a bizarre event, a woman, Yacedrah Williams from Michigan mistook her nail glue for eye drops and glued her eye shut. The woman had fallen asleep with her contact lenses on. However, woke up later in the night, at 1 a.m. wanting to take them out.
But, because she had been wearing the contact lenses for quite a while, it caused her eyes to become dry. However, instead, reached out for nail glue which she also kept in her purse for broken nail emergencies.
Unfortunately, when she realised her mistake, the damage had been done.
“I was like, ‘Oh my goodness.’ It dropped in my eye, and I tried to wipe it away. According to Dr. George Williams, an ophthalmologist at Beaumont Health in Royal Oak, Michigan, “If you ever get anything in your eye, the immediate thing to do is try and flush your eye out” either by pouring a bottle of water over your eye or holding your head under a faucet. He further added, “You’ll make a mess but you may save your vision.”
Surprisingly, such cases are reported on a regular basis in the ER. Yacedrah Williams actually isn’t the first person who accidentally put nail glue in her eye. She was immediately rushed to the hospital where doctors removed the contact lens that had nail glue on it. The contact lens actually saved her vision.
