A desperate father set up a home laboratory to develop a homemade medicine to treat his two-year-old with Menkes Syndrome.

Xu Wei’s son Haoyang suffers from a rare genetic disorder called Menkes Syndrome. Although the disease has no cure, copper histidine can help ease symptoms in patients. However, the medicine is not available in China and border closures mean Xu cannot acquire the medicine any other way. Desperate to ease his child’s suffering, the father has now turned to creating the medicine himself. العاب تربح مال حقيقي

Even though he cannot move or speak, he has a soul and feels emotions.

Menkes Syndrome is a genetic disorder that affects the copper levels of the body. It impacts how copper is processed, characterized by sparse, kinky hair, slow growth, and deterioration of the nervous system. It primarily affects the nervous system and connective tissue. Moreover, most children don’t live beyond the age of three.

According to the rare disease organization, globally, 100,000 babies are born with the disease. The disease is more prevalent in boys as compared to girls. While the copper treatment can alleviate symptoms, it is in no way a cure for the disease.

“It Had to Be Done”

When Xu learned of copper histidine, he began researching for equipment and ingredients for the medicine. Despite only having a high school education, the desperate father taught himself pharmaceuticals and set up a home laboratory in his father’s gym.

After countless weeks of research, Xu developed copper histidine using copper chloride dihydrate, sodium hydroxide and water. He first tested the medicine on rabbits and then himself. Once he was determined it was safe, he began administering it to his son.

Haoyang receives a daily dose of the homemade medicine. According to Xu, some of his son’s blood tests have returned to normal.

I don’t want him to wait desperately for death. Even if we fail, I want my son to have hope. لعب بوكر

Other parents with children suffering from Menkes have also approached Xu for the treatment. However, Xu has refused all offers. He is currently working on gene therapy research with an international biotech company, VectorBuilder.
