FH education for young medical community

Determined to raise awareness about Familial Hypercholesterolemia among medical community, FH Europe partners with MEDizzy, an online international community of young health care professionals. 

Despite the mounting scientific data and the scientific understanding of Familial Hypercholesterolemia on one hand, and effective as well as available therapies to manage the disease on the other, we are dealing with a vastly under-recognized and poorly managed condition. FH is a public health concern, impacting over 30mln people globally. In every ten people born with FH, nine are left undiagnosed and untreated.

On the occasion of FH Awareness Day 2020, FH Europe is partnering with MEDIzzy, the world’s fastest growing medical learning community.  The philosophy of MEDizzy is very simple. They strongly believe that easy access to medical education is the future of medical learning. This is also why they create innovative learning tools to empower the knowledge and potential of medical learners. The community brings together over 10mln doctors, nurses, paramedics and medical students from over 120 countries.

 “FH made easy” is and educational project, which main objective is to raise awareness and to educate the young generation of healthcare professionals about Familial Hypercholesterolemia, proper diagnosis, treatment and risk factors.

Sharing awareness is strongly related to our mission that’s why we are truly excited to collaborate with FH Europe this year. So far, we have run successful educational campaigns during World Cancer Day, World Malaria Day or World Hypertension Day and will use our previous experiences to reach, educate and get our community involved,” says Adrian Fester, the MEDizzy CO-Founder. “The world of education changes very rapidly as we could all experience in the last few months. This especially relates to the medicine, where gaining and updating knowledge is a constant process. Quick and easy access to credible online information is crucial for every healthcare professional and more educational activities are becoming digital. There are no doubts that the digital revolution in the medical education happens today and we are part of it.“

Planned activities for the FH Awareness Day 2020 include cross-platform quiz series that aim to engage the target audience, check the understand their basic knowledge about FH and provide short explanations to better retain the most important facts about FH. The quiz questions have been developed by the patient community in collaboration with medical experts and the European Atherosclerosis Society.
